यह पुस्तक ‘‘कुमारिल का आत्मदाह” उत्तर-मीमांसा के प्रमुख रचनाकार कुमारिल भट्ट के जीवन पर आधारित है जिन्होने अपने बौद्ध गुरू को धोखा देने एवं विश्वासघात से उपजे पाप काप्रायश्चित करने के लिए भूसा की धधकती आग मे आत्मदाह कर लिया था । कुमारिल भट्ट आठवीं सदी में ब्राह्मणधर्म के प्रचारक प्रसारक एवं प्रवक्ता थे तथा उत्तर-मीमांसा के एक मुख्य प्रवर्तक थे । वे दुनिया के प्रथम विश्वविद्यालय नालंदा मे उत्तर-मीमांसा के प्रोफेसर थे तथा अद्वैत जीवन दर्शन के प्रवर्तक शंकराचार्य के समकालीन थे । एकेश्वरवाद के प्रवर्तक शंकर अपने दर्शन के झंडे तले सम्पपूर्ण भरत मे बिखरी आध्यात्मिक चिन्तनधाराओं को एकीकृत करने की मंषा के साथ कुमारिल को शास्त्रार्थ मे परास्त करके अद्वैत दर्शन स्वीकार कराने के लिए आए थे ।

This book "Kumaril Ka Atma-immolation" is based on the life of Kumaril Bhatt, the main author of Uttar-Mimamsa, who immolated himself in a blazing fire of straw to atone for the sin of cheating and betraying his Buddhist Guru. Kumaril Bhatt was a propagator and spokesperson of Brahminism in the eighth century and a major promoter of Uttar-Mimamsa. He was a professor of Uttar-Mimamsa in the world's first university, Nalanda, and was a contemporary of Shankaracharya, the promoter of Advaita philosophy of life. Shankar, the promoter of monotheism, came with the intention of unifying the spiritual ideologies scattered throughout India under the banner of his philosophy and to defeat Kumaril in a debate and make them accept Advaita philosophy.
