देश में कॉमिक्स को प्रचलित करने के योगदान के लिए प्राण को वर्ष 1999 में भारत का सबसे बड़ा नागरिक पुरुस्कार पद्म श्री से सम्मानित किया गया। वह यह सम्मान पाने वाले पहले भारतीय कार्टूनिस्ट थे।
